What is STEAM?

STEAM Education is an approach to learning that uses Science, Technology,
Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry,
dialogue, and critical thinking.

Why is STEAM important?

According to labor projections, Texas is expected to have the second-highest percentage of the nation’s future STEM job opportunities.

To ensure our students are prepared for this future workforce, The Texas Education Agency developed a STEM Framework for districts to use a guide for STEM programming and is working to establish a Texas EcosySTEM – a collaborative effort which unites various stakeholders to work
towards the common goal of increasing access for young people to STEM-rich learning environments so that they are engaged and have mastered the necessary skills for success in STEM careers.
